The Steelers remain in talks with free agent guard Trai Turner after his visit to the team last week and Thursday’s release of starter David DeCastro, according to a report by NFL Network.

Turner visited the Steelers last Friday, and talks remain in progress, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Steelers have a significant amount of salary cap free with DeCastro’s release, which saved them over $8 million against their 2021 cap.

Turner made $8.8 million in salary and bonuses while playing for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020. The 28-year-old former third-round draft pick and five-time pro Bowler was released by the Chargers in a cap-related move this spring.
