The Saints have placed wide receiver Michael Thomas on injured reserve after he suffered a foot injury, and he will miss the team’s Week 10 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen does not expect Thomas to return this season. They will likely be without Mark Ingram against the Steelers, so this is another hit to an offense that seems more battered and bruised by the week.

Thomas has not played since September 25th against the Atlanta Falcons and put up 16 receptions for 171 in the games he has played this year. Playing without Thomas is not an unfamiliar concept for the Saints this season, as they have played more without him than with him.

He will undergo surgery on a nagging turf toe injury. Thomas was already fighting back from ankle surgeries after suffering an ankle injury years ago that knocked him out for the entire 2021 NFL season. This is just yet another severe injury in Thomas’s Saints career.

With Thomas officially out, the top receivers will continue to be Chris Olave, Jarvis Landry, Rashid Shaheed, and others. New Orleans comes to Pittsburgh on November 13th, and will seemingly come in with a significantly injured offense against a well-rested Steelers team.
