The Pittsburgh Steelers have been showing significant interest in a couple of the top cornerbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, specifically Clemson’s Nate Wiggins. At the time of this writing, the team has glaring needs at the center and wide receiver positions but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going that direction in round one. As has been the case for the last several cycles, there are a plethora of talented cover specialists available, with several projected in the first round.

SN analyst Derrick Bell gives his scouting report of Wiggins’ game: what traits make you so coveted, the areas that need further developing as well as his translation to the NFL level. As you can tell by his athletic testing numbers, his game is modeled around his speed, with an official 4.28 40-yard dash time that shows up on tape. But that’s not all that the youngster has to offer either. Even if Omar Khan isn’t able to fill the other needs on the roster prior to draft weekend, it shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point if he selects a premier player at a premier position in the first round and Wiggins fits the description.
