PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 rookie class got their reps in black and gold at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side on Friday.
Check it out as offensive line coach Pat Meyer works one-on-one with first-round left tackle Broderick Jones.
Jones took his first reps as a Steeler at left tackle, and it seems that’s where he’ll be slotted to play this fall, with general manager Omar Khan talking Thursday about the team’s faith in incumbent left tackle Dan Moore Jr.’s ability to play multiple positions.
On the defensive field, it was second-round corner Joey Porter, Jr. getting in work on the practice field that his father used to play on. Porter is no stranger to the Steelres facility, but Friday was his first session as a member of the team’s roster.
The two-day camp, which features five first-year players, 13 rookies and 33 tryouts will wrap up on Saturday. After that, the team will have a week off heading into the start of OTAs on May 23.
