Steelers Afternoon Drive: Does DeAndre Hopkins Make Sense for the Steelers?

Welcome to the Steelers Afternoon Drive, our new daily podcast featuring all the latest Steelers news.

Chris Carter joins Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith to discuss the latest surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team was listed as the betting odds favorite to land wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans, as the NFL trade deadline approaches. Does it make sense for the team, both from an acquisitional cost perspective as well as his fit with the team? Should they instead be focusing on defense where they could certainly use help at cornerback whether it be Patrick Surtain II, Kair Elam or a Mike Davis? The Steelers search for an identity on offense has been a frustrating one to watch but does the team feel like they’ve found some “bread and butter” plays to be able to rely on? Kenny Pickett answered a question from Chris regarding that and pre-snap motion. The Steelers have been successful using “trap” in their running game and even built some extensions off of that, as evidenced on Sunday. Is Matt Canada starting to understand how to get the most out of this offensive unit? Let’s go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss!
