? Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher is getting an honorary doctorate from Duquesne University and is delivering the school’s commencement speech later this spring.
Cowher went to NC State, but his father Laird Cowher was a Duquesne alumnus. The ceremony will be held on May 5 at UPMC Chuck Cooper Fieldhouse.
Cowher coached the Steelers from 1992-2006, compiling a 149-90-1 record as head coach and winning Super Bowl XL after the 2025 season. Since his retirement, he has been an analyst for CBS Sports.
? With the Steelers adding two interior offensive linemen in free agency, it looks like J.C. Hassenauer will not have a spot in 2023. The backup center and guard has been with the Steelers since 2019, but was not tendered an RFA contract and visited with the New York Giants on Wednesday.
? The Cleveland Brows upgraded their wide receiver position, acquiring Elijah Moore from the New York Jets on Wednesday. Cleveland traded a second-round pick in exchange for Moore and a third-rounder.
The 5-foot-10, 178-pound receiver had 37 catches for 446 yards in his sophomore NFL season in 2022. He was made expendable by the Jets signing free agent Mecole Hardman from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Moore will likely supplant 2022 rookie David Bell in the slot for Cleveland, with Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones continuing to play outside receiver.
