Steelers Daily Links: CBS Speaks Pittsburghese, Claypool Passes Physical

There are several Pittsburgh and Steelers ties in the CBS Sports NFL announcing crews for the 2023 season, which were announced on Monday.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher will continue to be a part of the NFL Today panel, along with James Brown, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason and Nate Burleson.

This season, they’ll also be joined by J.J. Watt, the older brother of star Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt, every Sunday at noon.

On the broadcasts, Pittsburgh native A.J. Ross will roam the sidelines for the No. 4 CBS broadcast crew that also includes Andrew Catalon, Tiki Barber and Matt Ryan.

Pittsburgh-area resident and former Steelers NFL Network reported Aditi Kinkhabwala will be a roving sideline reporter for CBS for the second straight season. Uniontown native and former NFL referee Gene Steratore will again serve as the CBS NFL rules analyst.

🏈 Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool has been activated from the physically unable to preform list, clearing him to return to practice on Wednesday.

Claypool was placed on the PUP list after failing his entry physical for Bears training camp due to a soft tissue injury.

🏈 Two Pittsburgh Maulers players got NFL tryouts on Monday. Linebacker Kyahva Tezino is getting a second NFL tryout, this time with the Seattle Seahawks. Maulers and former Steelers cornerback Mark Gilbert tried out for the Denver Broncos.

🏈 Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett stopped next door to his old stomping grounds at Pitt to visit with the Panthers while they are also prepping to start training camp.

🎂 Happy 45th birthday to former Steelers quarterback Tee Martin.

Born on July 25, 1978 in Mobile, Alabama, Martin joined the Steelers as a fifth-round draft pick in 2000 after winning a national championship at Tennessee.

He spent two seasons with the Steelers in 2000 and 2001, playing in one NFL regular season game.

Martin has gone on to become a successful coach, working fir Kentucky, USC and his alma mater Tennessee at the collegiate level and advancing to offensive coordinator and assistant head coach before joining the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. After two seasons as wide receivers coach, he will be the Ravens quarterbacks coach in 2023.
