🏈 Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hinted on his podcast that he might help coach his oldest son Benjamin’s youth football team. Well, it’s now confirmed, Roethlisberger will be an assistant coach on the Quaker Valley Youth Football 9-10 year old team. This is Roethlisberger’s son’s first year playing tackle football.

🏈 The Steelers scored just two touchdowns from outside the red zone last year, which was the worst in the league. While it was just the preseason, George Pickens had a 33-yard run-and-catch touchdown and Calvin Austin had a 67-yard touchdown reception from Mason Rudolph last Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Steelers also had the fewest touchdown passes (12) last year, while the Kansas City Chiefs led the league with 41.

🏈 North Carolina Central men’s basketball head coach LeVelle Moton gave a shoutout to Mike Tomlin on Twitter for having him at training camp.

Tomlin and Moton have been close friends for years.

🎂 Happy Birthday to former Steelers safety Kameron Kelly, born on August 19, 1996 in Round Rock, Texas. After the AAF suspended football operations, Kelly signed with the Steelers on April 8, 2019. He started in Week 1 against the New England Patriots and got playing time throughout the season. However, on Dec. 20, Kelly was arrested in Pittsburgh’s South Side after claims of threats towards police. He was waived by the Steelers later in the day. The charges were dropped by December 2020, and Kelly was fined half of a game salary by the NFL. Kelly hasn’t played in the NFL since. He currently plays for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL.
