Steelers Daily Links: Kiper Touts CB Need, Pickett Second-Year Leap?

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

The dates for the Steelers Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are officially set, beginning May 23 and running through June 8, with a total of 10 voluntary sessions. Mandatory minicamp is June 13-15. April 17 is when players can report for voluntary workouts that are limited to strength and conditioning.

Longtime ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper thinks cornerback is the Steelers biggest need. “Pittsburgh’s biggest need hasn’t changed,” Kiper wrote. “It has to get younger — and faster — at cornerback.” The NFL’s Annual League Meeting will be held from March 26-29, in Phoenix, Arizona, with a busy slate on tap for the owners regarding playing rules and bylaw and resolution proposals submitted by clubs up for vote.

The Herd: Cam Heyward discussed Lamar Jackson’s uncertain future in Baltimore with Colin Cowherd. “He is the heart and soul of that team.  … To think that more teams aren’t bidding for his services is kind of surprising.”

93.7 The Fan: Mark Kaboly of The Athletic thinks Kenny Pickett will take a big leap in 2023: “That’s a guy you cannot sleep on,” Kaboly said. “That year one to year two is always huge. … I think it’s all set up for him. I would open up the playbook for Kenny Pickett right now.”

The official NFL Twitter account posted the top-10 jaw dropping plays from the Steelers’ 2022 season.

Najee Harris has been training at Fast University in Katy, Texas this offseason.
