Steelers Daily Links: Logjam at Guard, Emotional Exit for Sutton

How will the Pittsburgh Steelers solve their sudden logjam at guard? One NFL analyst suggested something surprising.

🏈 93.7 The Fan: The Steelers had 2022 starting guards Kevin Dotson and James Daniels and center Mason Cole all signed and ready to go for 2023, and then Omar Khan went out and added Isaac Seumalo and Nate Herbig to the mix in free agency.

How will the five shake out? NFL analyst Brian Baldinger said on The PM Team on Monday that he thinks that both Dotson and Daniels could be out of a starting job after the moves and that Cole shouldn’t feel safe, either.

🏈 NBC Sports: Cam Sutton shed a few tears after agreeing to his “life-changing” new contract with the Detroit Lions, his agent told Peter King.

Sutton’s $33 million contract with the Lions had more guaranteed money at $22.5 million than he had made in his six years in Pittsburgh combined, and when agent David Canter let him know what he was getting, he got emotional.

“He just started crying,” Canter said to King. “He told me, ‘This changes my life. Let’s go to Detroit, baby!’”

🎂 Happy 28th birthday to Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and happy 62nd birthday to former Steelers wide receiver Willis Hope “Weegie” Thompson, born on this day in Pensacola, Florida in 1961.
