Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, who had been loosely connected to the Pittsburgh Steelers in trade rumors, instead will go to the San Francisco 49ers; Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is in more legal trouble.

A blockbuster trade happened late Thursday night, as the Carolina Panthers are trading Pro Bowl running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2024, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. McCaffrey played his college ball in the Bay Area at Stanford.

TMZ Sports has learned that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was busted for going 97 MPH in a 70 MPH zone in June. Police body cam footage showed that an officer pulled over the 27-year-old on June 11 in Sandusky, Ohio. Court records show the case was closed out on July 6 — when Watson paid a $185 fine.

Cam Heyward gave props to Mitch Trubisky for bouncing back from adversity and leading the Steelers to a win on Sunday over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “You’re not just voted the captain because you’re the quarterback, it’s because you know how to lead. Chao also notes that only six players all year have returned to play a game a week after a concussion.

Through six games, the Steelers have the third-worst points per game average in the league at 16.2. Only the Chicago Bears (15.5) and Denver Broncos (15.2) are worse.
