Former Steelers wideout Antonio Brown

Former Steelers cornerback and Hall of Famer Mel Blount was somehow left off a Sportcenter graphic of the best cornerbacks in NFL history. Blount won four Super Bowls with the Steelers in the 1970s and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1975, a season in which he led the league in interceptions with 11. Blount was so dominant that the league implemented a rule in his name. To open up the passing game, the league prohibited the contact between defensive backs and receivers after five yards from the line of scrimmage. From its inception in 1978, that rule has been known in history as the “Mel Blount Rule.”

🏈 All Things Covered podcast: Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf ranked his top-5 wide receivers of all time, and Antonio Brown came in at No. 1. Metcalf had Brown over Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Jerry Rice and Julio Jones.

🏈 DraftKings ranked Najee Harris as the 15th-best running back for Fantasy Football in the NFL.

🏈 According to Ryan Scarpino, the Steelers have scored 30 points or more just twice in the past two seasons. Only the New York Giants have done it less (1). Steelers are 0-2 in these games. On the flip side, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills have scored at least 30 in 17-of-34 since 2021. Both are 15-2 in these instances. In addition, since 2021, s teams have scored at least 30 points in a game 12 times. Their combined record is 88-10.

🎂 Happy Birthday to former Steelers cornerback Brandon Boykin, born on July 13, 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia. On Aug. 1, 2015, Boykin was traded by the Philadelphia Eagles to the Steelers in exchange for a conditional 2016 5th-round pick. Boykin never panned out with the Steelers, however, lasting only one season in Pittsburgh. Boykin signed with the Carolina Panthers following the 2015 season but was released two months later. He had short stints with the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens as well, but never played in a game.
