Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin was honored by his alma mater, and one former rival called former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward a dirty player.

 Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin was the honorary captain for his alma mater Pitt on Saturday as the Panthers took on Rhode Island to wrap their non-conference schedule at Acrisure Stadium.

 Baltimore Ravens Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed said Hines Ward “was a dirty player” in an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show this week, but said there’s no beef between the two.

 Ward was one of six Steelers players nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2023 this week. He is a six-time semifinalist, but has not advanced beyond that stage of the voting.

 The Steelers are off this weekend. They will return to the practice field at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for a bonus practice day on Monday.

 The Baltimore Ravens are 2.5-point favorites to win in New England against the Patriots.

 The Cincinnati Bengals are 6-point favorites to win on the road against the New York Jets

 If both favorites win, Pittsburgh will be in third place in the AFC North, winning the tiebreaker with the 1-2 Bengals.
