The Steelers get a top cornerback to fall in a recent ESPN mock draft, and Kenny Pickett met up with a Steelers passing great.
? ESPN analyst and former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum has the Steelers selecting Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon with the No. 17 overall pick in his latest mock draft. Witherspoon would fit a need for the Steelers, but Tannenbaum has Pittsburgh passing on Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who fell to the Detroit Lions at 18th overall. Carter would be a top-5 pick if it wasn’t for off-the-field issues.
? Steelers.com: As a part of the Steelers continued commitment to growing girls flag football, the team hosted a kickoff event for the Girls Flag Football League in Pittsburgh that they support, with an afternoon filled with excitement that featured tight end Connor Heyward taking part. This year there are 17 schools participating, up from six in 2022, with some of the schools having multiple teams because of the popularity.
? Terry Bradshaw met Kenny Pickett at an autograph singing event over the weekend. “Got to love this guy!! Kenny Pickett, here’s to your great future with the Steelers,” Bradshaw wrote on his official Facebook account.
? Kenny Pickett and his dad recently golfed with The Great One, Wayne Gretzky.
? Jerome Bettis’ daughter, Jada, will attend his alma mater Notre Dame in the fall. “Today marks one of the proudest days of my life,” Bettis tweeted. “My daughter’s hard work and determination has paid off, and she will be attending @NotreDame this fall! Your mother and I couldn’t be more proud!”
? Former Steelers cornerback and current scout Ike Taylor has been heavy on the scouting trail in the state of Florida. Along with being at the Miami and Florida pro day last week, Taylor was also at the UCF pro day. Taylor lives in Orlando.
? Former Steelers head coach and Hall of Famer Bill Cowher was the keynote speaker at the Mega Coaching Clinic. The event took place at Cowher’s alma mater North Carolina State.
Had the opportunity to meet @steelers HOF Coach Bill Cowher. Growing up in Pittsburgh and watching him on the sidelines for 15 years, made this an all time great visit for me! pic.twitter.com/3SlvFdiGWO
