The 2023 NFL Draft safety class might not have what team are looking for, and former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Dwayne Woodruff looks back on his unique post-football career.

🏈 The Steelers seemingly replaced Terrell Edmunds at strong safety by re-signing Damontae Kazee and bringing in free agent addition Keanu Neal. That’s a good thing, because NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah says it’s a bad year to need a safety in the 2023 NFL Draft.

🏈 Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Dwayne Woodruff and current Allegheny Count judge Dwayne Woodruff caught up with Steelers.com about his playing career and transitioning into law.

📅 On this date in 1976, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected tight end Bennie Cunningham with their first-round pick in the 1976 NFL Draft. Picking at No. 28 — then the final slot in the first round — the Steelers landed a reliable starter and member of their final two Super Bowl winning teams.

Cunningham played 10 seasons, all in Pittsburgh, catching 202 passes for 2,879 yards and 20 touchdowns, none more famous than a flea-flicker pass from Terry Bradshaw to Cunningham in overtime against the Cleveland Browns in 1978 at Three Rivers Stadium.

Center Ray Pinney, quarterback Mike Kruczek and offensive lineman Jim Files were the team’s other picks on the first day of the two-day draft, which was held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
