Steelers Fans Poised for Another Road Takeover?

The Pittsburgh Steelers spent most of the early part of their 2023 season taking over opposing road venues, and they might get one more crack at it on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Steelers fans, which took over western venues in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Houston earlier this season, appear to be poised to do the same thing at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.

According to ticket re-selling marketplace Vivid Seats and their Fan Forecast, 43% of the fans at the Colts’ home stadium on Saturday are expected to be cheering for the Black and Gold. That’s up 10% from the Steelers crew that traveled to watch the game in Indianapolis last season.

The average sold price for the Steelers game against the Colts is $151, according to Vivid Seats. As of early Friday morning, the cheapest price available for two tickets together was just under $170.

It’s just a five and a half hour drive across Interstate 70 for Steelers fans coming from Pittsburgh, and even closer for fans of the Black and Gold that live in Ohio. While the early season games out west were largely attended by Steelers partisans that live out of town, a game like Indianapolis, on a Saturday afternoon, with lots of time for travel back and forth, is ideal for Pittsburgh fans eager to attend a road game.

So far this season, the Steelers are sixth in road-game attendance, with their five games being played at 99.7% of capacity. Last season, they finished fifth at 99.9% capacity.
