Steelers First and 10: Playoffs Still Possible from 1-3

Steelers Strong Safety Terrell Edmunds

The Steelers have plenty of time to time to right the ship after a 1-3 start, but they had better do so quickly.

The Denver Broncos come to town on Sunday, and at 3-1, appear to be a team that could challenge for an AFC Wild Card berth, so the game will be important not just for the Steelers’ overall record, but for tiebreaker considerations, as well.

The odds are long, but not zero, of Pittsburgh turning things around. According to 538.com, teams that start 1-3 have a 21% chance of making the postseason.

From there, 2-3 teams go on to play in the playoffs 30% of the time, but 1-4 teams make it just 13% of the time.

So Sunday’s game isn’t must win, but it’s awfully close.
