Steelers Host Veteran Offensive Tackle for Workout

The Steelers hosted veteran offensive tackle and a former Steeler in Christian DiLauro for a workout on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston reported.

DiLauro last worked with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings signed him in August, but he did not earn a spot on their practice squad and got waived during final cut-downs. Across his six-season NFL career, DiLauro has played for eight teams but only in five career games.

He spent the most significant time with the Titans from 2021 to 2022. The Titans in 2021 and the Denver Broncos in 2022 promoted DiLauro to their active roster at different points in the season, earning him some playing time. DiLauro was with the Steelers from 2019 to 2020, but the team released him during final cut-downs in 2020. He did not play in any games for the Steelers.

The Steelers first signed DiLauro to their practice squad in 2019, and he spent the entire offseason with the team, working as a reserve left tackle. He can play both sides of the offensive line, working on both sides with some of the above-mentioned teams. Last year, he spent time with the Washington Commanders and the Broncos. In college, he played at right tackle and has logged some snaps at guard later in his career.

DiLauro, 28, comes out as a veteran tackle out of Illinois. After signing there as an undrafted free agent, he spent the 2018 preseason with the Cleveland Browns but was cut at the end of camp. He spent the 2018 regular season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and the 2019 preseason with San Francisco but was again released before the season. He was also on the Houston Texans practice squad during that early portion of his career.

While at Illinois, DiLauro earned Big-Ten All-Freshman Team honors in 2014. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound tackle is now looking for a new home. Pittsburgh has Kellen Diesch and Joey Fisher as the offensive linemen on their practice squad. Dan Moore Jr., Chuks Okorafor, Spencer Anderson, Broderick Jones, and Dylan Cook comprise their depth chart on the active roster.
