Steelers Hosting Likely First-Round Tackle on Pre-Draft Visit
The Steelers are hosting top tackle and likely first-round pick Broderick Jones out of Georgia for a pre-draft visit, according to multiplehttps://twitter.com/bepryor/status/1647989319368335362?s=20″>
reports.
Jones is one of the top three tackles in the 2023 NFL Draft along with Peter Skoronski and Paris Johnson Jr. whom the Steelers have been connected to throughout the process. He could be argued as the likeliest pick for the team right now if they were to stay at 17, but it is entirely possible that he is gone by the time they reach the clock.
The 6-foot-5, 311-pound tackle is only 21 years old and coming out of Georgia and he would be a true left tackle that the team is looking to bring in during the draft. At the NFL Combine, Jones ran a 4.97 40-yard dash and registered a 30-inch vertical jump, both far above average for where he is at in the process.
Jones joins a number of other tackles who have come on a visit, including Dawand Jones and Anton Harrison. In addition, the Steelers sent a brigade down to Athens for his pro day, including head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan.
In the past, Jones has been called ‘the dream scenario’ by draft analysts, including Daniel Jeremiah. Should he be at 17, it would be hard to see the Steelers pass on him as they look for a tackle of the future to solidify what they have on the offensive line. With Kenny Pickett heading into his second season, the development of his game is paramount and an offensive line is as important to that development as anything.
