Steelers Injury Updates: Chase Claypool, Cam Sutton Return to Practice Field

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers are getting close to full strength. On Saturday, Chase Claypool and Cam Sutton both took to the Steelers’ practice field to return from injury. Claypool suffered a shoulder injury last week and did not practice until Saturday. Sutton had a scare with a knee injury on Thursday but seems okay.

Both players only practiced in a limited fashion, but Mike Tomlin expects them to ramp up. Sutton’s injury was described as ‘nothing serious’ while Chase Claypool is currently working his way back from his injury.

“He’s a guy who I am describing in working their way back,” Tomlin said of Claypool. “Hopefully we get a lot of those guys back next week as we start to lean into game action.”

Meanwhile, Najee Harris (foot) did not practice. He has not practiced since Monday when his foot was stepped on by Myles Jack. Harris is getting treatment for it every day and is swimming as a way to keep his conditioning up. Still, he is back to square one on his rehab.

Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) and Marcus Allen (hamstring) both did not practice, though Freiermuth seems to be closer to his return than Allen.

Minkah Fitzpatrick (wrist) has not gone on to participate in full team drills just yet but is working his way back. Thus far, Fitzpatrick is just working on individual drills, but his participation is expected to ramp up as early as next week.
