PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers got significantly healthier as the team continued its preparations for its Week 4 trip to visit the Houston Texans on Thursday, but are still missing several key players due to injury, and even added one to the injury list.

Right guard James Daniels and punter Pressley Harvin III both missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday, bringing into question their availability for Sunday’s game.

Daniels is dealing with a groin injury, while Harvin is still getting treatment on a strained right hamstring. Both players were mentioned by head coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday among players that he expected to have limited participation early in the week.

Brad Wing, signed to the practice squad on Monday, has been working on holding and punting in practice this week and is ready to replace Harvin if needed. Veteran backup Nate Herbig would replace Daniels at right guard if he’s unable to play.

A new name on the Steelers injury report for Thursday was tight end Darnell Washington, who missed practice with a knee injury. Washington has been on and off the injury report for several weeks now with the knee injury, but it has yet to cause him to miss a game. His status on Friday is worth monitoring.

Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi and wide receiver Allen Robinson II were both limited after missing practice on Wednesday. Ogunjobi has barely practiced all season with his foot issue, but continues to play and play well while making up for the loss of Cam Heyward on the defensive line.

Robinson was the third and final player that Tomlin mentioned on Tuesday. He is dealing with an ankle injury and appears to be on track to be able to play on Sunday if he does not suffer a setback.

Three other players were full participants on Thursday after missing or being limited on Wednesday: tight end Connor Heyward (ankle), safety Miles Killebrew (knee) and right tackle Chuks Okorafor (elbow). All three should be expected to play this week.

Two veteran players that were given Wednesday off, cornerback Patrick Peterson and left guard Isaac Seumalo, were active on Thursday.

The Steelers will have their third and final practice session of the week at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Friday before boarding their flight for Houston on Saturday.
