The Pittsburgh Steelers let their lead slip away in a disappointing Week 4 loss to the New York Jets. Facing another AFC East opponent in the Buffalo Bills in Week 5, the Steelers had no such problem. Pittsburgh never came close to leading against the Bills, conceding a 98-yard touchdown on the third play of the game and never so much as threatening to knock off the top team in the AFC East.

Josh Allen threw four touchdowns and the Bills out-classed the Steelers, 38-3 for the team’s worst loss under head coach Mike Tomlin and worst loss since 1989.

The lone bright spot in the day for Pittsburgh was a Kenny Pickett and George Pickens-led offense that seemed to be able to move the ball. Pickett broke down why he thought that never translated to the scoreboard.

Pickett and the rest of the team showed its fight — literally — in the fourth quarter, with the offensive line and Pickett himself starting scrums after late hits from Buffalo’s Damar Hamlin and Shaq Lawson.

The bad news on the injury front continued for the Steelers, as four more starters left the game with injuries and did not return.

The loss leaves the Steelers in a tie for last place in the NFL, holding the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
