Steelers Morning Rush: Would the Steelers be Super Bowl contenders with Davante Adams and should that matter in their pursuit of him?
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the Steelers pursuit of Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.
The Steelers are one of a number of teams that is involved in trade talks for Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler who seems to be at the end of his road with the Raiders and vice versa.
The asking price has been revealed to be a second-round pick plus, though it seems unlike the Raiders will get it. With his current contract situation, Adams would be considered a rental by most acquiring teams, unless they’re able to work out a new deal with him beforehand.
Would getting a rental Adams get the Steelers over the top and make them Super Bowl contenders? No. But they should do it anyway. Alan explains why.
