The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed cornerback Luq Barcoo and running back Greg Bell to their practice squad, Steelers Now has learned.

Barcoo and Bell were both with the team during training camp and had both initially been signed to the team’s practice squad for Week 1, but were released on Sept. 12 to make room for the signing of wide receiver Jacob Copeland the return of offensive lineman Ryan McCollum to the practice squad at the beginning of the week.

The Steelers have not yet officially announced the transactions or the necessary moves required in order to make space on the 16-player squad.

Bell joins Qadree Ollison, giving the team two running backs on the practice squad, along with fullback Zander Horvath.

He joined the Steelers on August 1st after the season-ending shoulder injury to Alfonzo Graham. He showcased his receiving ability and quick shiftiness in training camp, rising up the depth chart to the fourth running back by the end of training camp. He returned to Pittsburgh after clearing waivers.

Bell could not spark much offense in his three games with the Steelers during the preseason. On 18 rushes, he notched only 34 yards for 1.9 yards per carry. However, Bell did power 31 yards after contact, showcasing his contact balance and ability to create even with his subpar blocking for most of the preseason. That tracks for Bell, who proved throughout his college career that he could find hidden yardage. Bell also plays on special teams units, totaling 12 snaps overall this preseason.

Barcoo signed with the Steelers this May after a productive spring with the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL. He played exclusively outside cornerback with the Steelers, battling with incumbent James Pierre and others to be the fourth outside corner on the regular roster.

He played in all three preseason games but on defense in just two, earning 42 snaps between the opener against the Buffalo Bills and the finale versus the Atlanta Falcons. He was given a 63.6 grade by PFF for his preseason. He did not record any official statistics over the three games.
