The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed wide receiver Steven Sims to a future contract for the 2022 season, the team announced on Wednesday.

Sims, 24, signed with the Steelers on Sept. 1 and spent the entire season on the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster one time, for the Steelers’ Week 10 game against the Detroit Lions. He played in five snaps, and was not targeted for a single pass.

Sims came to Pittsburgh after spending the previous two seasons in Washington, re-joining wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard, who coached him in 2019.

In two seasons in D.C., Sims amassed 575 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 61 receptions. Sims also averaged 25.6 yards per kick return in 2019, with 32 returns for 819 yards and a touchdown. He also has experience returning punts, returning 24 punts for Washington in 2020.
