Steelers Sights and Sounds: Diontae Johnson Shows Out

Steelers WR Diontae Johnson

UNITY TWP., Pa. — Diontae Johnson is having a quietly excellent training camp. The Steelers wide receiver is yet again a guy who everyone seems to forget about until he is out of the lineup, and then his importance is shown on the field. Regardless, his routes continue to show their crispness and he is the most natural separator the Steelers have on their roster. In a receiver room with plenty of potential, Johnson is a guy who is hoping to live up to the hype of a bounce-back season.

Matt Canada’s offense will be under the microscope after multiple additions, including in the pass catchers room and on the offensive line. With Kenny Pickett heading into his second season as a potential breakout candidate, it seems to be a year where it is put up or shut up time for the Steelers offense under the guidance of Canada. With Mike Tomlin expecting the team to start fast, that becomes even more paramount.

Meanwhile, additions such as Allen Robinson II and the returning Calvin Austin III are looking to gather their feet as the week continues to go onward. George Pickens is looking like a super star on top of that all. They will be key pieces in making sure the offense does take that next step along with a potential bounce-back season from Diontae Johnson.
