UNITY TWP., Pa — The Steelers are a little bit banged up at wide receiver with Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson still working back from injuries. However, that has opened the door for players like George Pickens and Calvin Austin to continue opening eyes. Thus far, that is exactly what the Steelers have wanted to see.
So, wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson went back to work with the Steelers receivers and worked on route running and contested catches. If the Steelers’ receivers are going to be better in 2022, they will need to make the tough catches that they simply could not make in 2021. So, Jackson is making that a point of emphasis for the Steelers receiving corps moving forward.
Pickens always has great displays of body control with his outrageous talent in drills. At times, he looks like he floats. In the route running drills, Pickens does a great job of showing off his quickness. For someone his size, he really does cut better than one would expect.
Veteran #Steelers DB Karl Joseph on how good George Pickens can be:
"He’s good, man, and I think he doesn’t even know it yet. … He might, though, as much as he talks." pic.twitter.com/bn6u13c6jD
