PITTSBURGH — A good mentor is as important as anything for a football player, especially when that mentor is a future Hall of Famer. Well, the Steelers have a great dynamic going between Patrick Peterson and the young cornerbacks. Peterson is already taking Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice under his wing.

The cornerback room has a ton of upside to it. There are those young guys along with veterans such as Peterson and Levi Wallace. That mentorship can only help the growth of this group. The Steelers will be helping out those two young guys while working to replace a lot of moving pieces in the secondary with new players.

Meanwhile, the defensive line has plenty to work on as well. With some questions still at nose tackle, Cam Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi will bookend each side of the defensive line. Meanwhile, the outside linebackers look to keep it up with T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith having a new veteran running mate in Markus Golden. The defense could be one of the deeper in the NFL if a lot of these moving pieces work together at all three levels. However, those veterans stepping up will be a big part of that occurring or not.
