Steelers Still Showing Draft Interest in ILBs after Signing Patrick Queen

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to show interest in Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace, showing that the team might not be done adding to the position after signing free agent Patrick Queen earlier this offseason.

The Steelers got a good look at Wallace at the 2024 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., but decided they wanted to get a closer look by sending linebackers coach Aaron Curry to the Kentucky Pro Day on Friday. 

Wallace was one of the top prospects at the Kentucky pro day, along with defensive back Andre Phillips, running back Ray Davis and quarterback Devin Leary. The Steelers also sent Curry to Ohio State to work out inside linebackers Steele Chambers and Tommy Eichenberg.

General manager Omar Khan made one of the biggest free agent singings in team history at linebacker earlier this offseason, snagging All-Pro Patrick Queen from the rival Baltimore Ravens on a three-year, $41 million contract.

Queen will join returning veterans Elandon Roberts, Cole Holcomb and Mark Robinson at the position, but the Steelers do not appear to be done adding to their linebacker room, with Curry’s attendance at multiple pro days confirmed interest in multiple players.

Wallace, a 6-foot-1, 237-pound junior linebacker, ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash and a 37.5-inch vertical jump at the NFL Combine. In his three seasons at Kentucky, he recorded 166 tackles, including an 80-tackle season in 2023. He also had 8.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

Wallace is likely to be a third-day draft pick, and is currently projected at No. 141 by NFL Mock Draft Database.
