Steelers Sustain Two New Injuries at Training Camp

UNITY TWP., Pa — The Steelers sustained two new injuries on Saturday during practice. Both of the Herbig brothers sustained injuries that do not seem not to be serious. Nick Herbig suffered a hip flexor injury and did not finish the day. But that is an injury on the more minor side.

Meanwhile, his brother Nate Herbig sustained a hand or thumb injury as described by Mike Tomlin. That will dent the interior offensive line depth a little bit, and give guys like Kevin Dotson, Ryan McCollum, and Bill Dunkle more opportunities to run with the additional opportunities given to them. Joey Porter Jr. had his ankle wrapped and sustained normal bumps and bruises. Both the Herbig brothers are being evaluated.

The Steelers were missing a few veterans on Saturday at training camp, including two safeties in Keanu Neal and Damontae Kazee. Kazee had a helmet and looked like he would be closer to practicing but did not go through anything as he recovers from his ankle injury. Meanwhile, Neal did not practice or go through anything, leaving his status as a question overall.

However, Larry Ogunjobi was a new addition to the list. The veteran defensive tackle did not practice nor did he appear injured at the Friday Night Lights practice. Rookie Keeanu Benton had a wrap on his right wrist, but he is going through drills and team periods, so that seems minor.
