Steelers to Host Blazing-Fast RB on Pre-Draft Visit

The Pittsburgh Steelers will host Texas running back Jaydon Blue for a pre-draft visit at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, he told reporters at the Texas pro day on Tuesday.
The Steelers sent their top brass to the pro day, with head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith all in Austin. Apparently, they liked what they saw.
After running well at the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis in late February, Blue tore through the Texas pro day, posting the best 40-yard dash time with a blazing 4.25 seconds.
Blue had run a 4.38-second 40 at the combine, but revealed on Tuesday that he had a slight tear in his groin for that performance. At his pro day, he also posted a 29.5-inch vertical and a 10-foot-4 broad jump.

Blue was not extensively used at Texas, gaining a total of 1,161 yards on 214 carries over three seasons. His most extensive playing time came as a junior in 2024, when he ran 134 times for 730 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 42 passes for 368 yards and another six scores.
The 5-foot-9, 196 pound Blue certainly fits the profile of what it seems the Steelers are looking for at running back in Arthur Smith’s wide zone offense. They already have two undersized speedsters in Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell, and appear to be hot on the trail of another.
Blue joins DJ Giddens of Kansas State, Dylan Sampson of Tennessee and Bhayshul Tuten of Virginia Tech that all fit that profile and either have or are expected to come to Pittsburgh on a pre-draft visit.
