A large Steelers contingent headed south to Oxford, Mississippi, on Wednesday to see star Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral live in action.

The contingent included head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Kevin Colbert, pro scouting coordinator Brandon Hunt, and offensive coordinator Matt Canada in attendance to watch Corral throw. Corral did not throw or test at the NFL Combine due to an ankle injury, so this was the staff’s first time being able to see what he can do up close and personal.

In order to head to Oxford, the Steelers missed out on one of their usual stops in the pro day circuit in Ohio State. Instead, they sent a smaller contingent to Columbus while they spoke with Corral and watched his workout. Throughout the day, Tomlin was seen making plenty of interactions with the Mississippi quarterback.

As hands-on as he is at this type of events, it is little surprise that Tomlin is showing interest in Corral. The Steelers themselves fit Corral well with an RPO-heavy style. And he has the desirable momentum for the Steelers’ scheme and can make plays outside of the pocket with his legs.

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and Falcons head coach Arthur Smith were among the other head coaches in attendance. Along with Pitt and Liberty, this now makes it three separate pro days that Tomlin, Colbert, Hunt, and Canada have gone to this week alone. With Desmond Ridder’s to come in Cincinnati on Thursday and Sam Howell’s to come next Monday, the Steelers are unlikely to be done making stops on their circuit schedule.
