The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced a new student rush promotion, the first of its kind for an NFL team.

Patterned after the famous Pittsburgh Penguins promotion of the early 2000s, the Steelers will make 100 standing room only tickets available for each game at Acrisure Stadium, exclusively for college students with a .edu e-mail address.

The standing room only inventory will be new, meaning on top of previously sold ticket allotments and there will be a dedicated student rush area behind the scoreboard in the south end zone. The tickets will be priced $50, including fees.

Students can sign up for the program by texting STUDENT to 888-412-4469. Text messages will be sent informing program participants of ticket availability. Each student can purchase a maximum of two tickets per transaction.

“We are excited to launch this brand-new program, our first geared specifically towards college students in Pittsburgh,” vice president Ryan Huzjak said in a press release. “The Steelers Student Rush program will introduce newly created game access for college students, reinforcing our commitment to the next generation of Steelers fans. This initiative not only provides a student-friendly price but also lays the foundation for creating lifelong fans through a unique gameday experience geared towards our younger fans.”

The program will begin with the Steelers’ regular-season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10. To celebrate the launch of the new promotion, the Steelers will be hosting a kickoff watch party for students during that game, on the lawn outside Gate A at Acrisure Stadium.
