TRANSACTIONS

The Steelers signed running back Godwin Igwebuike from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad, promoted nose tackle Breiden Fehoko from their own practice squad, and made running back Qadree Ollison a game-day elevation from the practice squad.

FROM THE OTHER SIDE

Raiders edge rusher Tyree Wilson, who is questionable with an illness, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported early on Sunday. Wilson is the only Raiders player with an injury status for this game.

Earlier in the week, Las Vegas placed edge rusher Chandler Jones on the non-football injury list. He and Wilson had been alternating opposite Maxx Crosby. Former Cleveland Brown Isaac Rochell and 2021 third-round pick Malcolm Koonce will provide depth.

THE LAST TIME

The Steelers beat the Raiders in an epic, emotionally charged game at Acrisure Stadium last season. The game was scheduled on Christmas Eve to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception. Then, days before the game, Franco Harris, the central figure to that storyline, who was set to have his No. 32 jersey retired, died suddenly.

The already special game became an emotional affair, and then the weather arrived, leaving the teams playing in subzero temperatures and one of the coldest games in Steelers history.

The Steelers prevailed over their old rivals and the elements, with Kenny Pickett hitting George Pickens for a long touchdown to provide the winning margin.

SERIES

The Raiders lead the all-time series between the clubs, 17-14, and are ahead 14-11 in regular-season games.

The clubs played for the first time after the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 and quickly became fierce rivals, splitting their two games before Harris’ playoff-winning reception in 1972. They played five postseason games from 1972-76, with the Steelers winning three.

Since 1990, the teams have split their 16 games evenly.

From the time the Raiders moved from Los Angeles to Oakland in 1995, the Steelers went 1-4 at Oakland Coliseum. This will be the Steelers’ first visit to Las Vegas since the Raiders moved there in 2020.

PITTSBURGH CONNECTIONS

Raiders middle linebacker Robert Spillane played four seasons with the Steelers from 2019-22. He acknowledged this week that it’s a “big game” for him.

Backup quarterback Bryan Hoyer played for the Steelers in 2012. Raiders pass-game coordinator Scott Turner was an offensive assistant and wide receivers coach at Pitt from 2008-10. Defensive passing-game coordinator Jason Simmons played cornerback for the Steelers from 1998-01.

STEELERS ON SNF

The Steelers can move into a tie with the New England Patriots for the third-most wins on Sunday Night Football with 32. The Dallas Cowboys (39) and Green Bay Packers (34) have more.

The Steelers can tie the Cowboys with the most road SNF wins with 18. Of teams with 25 or more SNF games played, the Steelers are tied for the second-best winning percentage.

VEGAS, BABY

Two national recording artists will appear at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday. Jordin Sparks will sing the national anthem and rapper Lil Wayne will perform at halftime.
