The price has been revealed if the Pittsburgh Steelers want to trade for and sign Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.

According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic on Thursday morning, the Seahawks are seeking a first- and third-round pick in exchange for Metcalf. That aligns with previous reporting that they had been talking with Green Bay about a trade for pick No. 23, along with one of the Packers’ young wide receivers.

As far as Metcalf, he is seeking a new contract in the $30 million per year range.

That is similar to what the San Francisco 49ers were seeking for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk at this time last season, and they did not make a deal. It wasn’t until Aiyuk refused to practice during training camp and negotiations on a contract extension dragged on throughout the summer that the 49ers agreed to a package of two day two picks to send Aiyuk to Pittsburgh. Then, of course, Aiyuk changed his mind and re-signed in San Francisco.

It was first reported that Metcalf has officially requested a trade on Wednesday, and that the Seahawks will explore trade options. But that doesn’t mean that he will definitely be traded to the highest bidder. Seattle could decided that if no team meets their price, they’ll play hardball with Metcalf instead and try to get him to sign a contract extension.

The reason Metcalf wants out of Seattle has not been reported, and it’s unclear how willing he will be to make things ugly to force a trade away from the team that drafted him in 2019.

The Steelers have already been contact with the Seahawks regarding Metcalf, according to multiple Steelers Now sources. The Steelers have a large need at wide receiver, with only George Pickens and Calvin Austin III set to return from last year’s group, along with Roman Wilson, who missed almost all of 2024 with injury.

There are several other options for the Steelers in the trade and free agent market, including Davante Adams, Christian Kirk, Darius Slayton and Cooper Kupp.
