Following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 37-15 win over the New York Jets on Sunday night, Steelers Nation made their best attempt to recruit Jets wide receiver Mike Williams to the Steel City.

Williams hit the trade market this week after the Jets acquired Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Steelers are among the teams that have shown the most interest in acquiring the 30-year-old Williams, along with the New Orleans Saints and his former club, the Los Angeles Chargers.

“lol Steelers fans in the stands are yelling to Mike Williams as he walks off the field ‘see you in a Steelers uniform next week,'” Jenna Harner of WPXI wrote on X.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan and Jets GM Joe Douglas have put discussions between the teams about Williams on hold until after the Week 7 game between the clubs, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 6-foot-4, 218-pound wide receiver served as the fourth wide receiver for the Jets on Sunday, behind Adams, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. Williams caught one pass on two targets for 15 yards. On the season, Williams has hauled in 11 of 19 targets for 160 yards and no touchdowns.

It sure seems like Williams will be on the move, possibly as soon as this week, and the Steelers would be an ideal landing spot. The Steelers have been searching for an upgrade at wide receiver since trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers back in March and have been aggressive in the trade market. Khan went all-in on star San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and came up short. The Steelers also missed out on Davante Adams.

Steelers No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens had a standout performance against the Jets, recording five receptions for 111 yards (22.2 average) and a touchdown. Tight end Pat Freiermuth also pitched in with two receptions for 51 yards (25.5 average). Van Jefferson caught a touchdown and Calvin Austin III had a 36-yard reception, as well.

For the first time in over four years, the Steelers scored more than 30 points in consecutive contests. Quarterback Russell Wilson certainly provided a spark for the offense, especially in the passing game. Wilson’s 264 passing yards are the most by a quarterback in their first game with the Steelers in franchise history.ย Adding Mike Williams could electrify this offense even more.
