Injury News Delivers Swing in Steelers-Colts Line

Late-week injury news has the line for the Pittsburgh Steelers Week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday swinging toward the Black and Gold.

The Steelers announced on Wednesday that All-Pro outside linebacker T.J. Watt had quickly clear the NFL concussion protocol after first reporting symptoms on Dec. 8. Then on Thursday, the Steelers announced that fellow outside linebacker Alex Highsmith had also quickly cleared the protocol.

Meanwhile in Indianapolis, star running back Jonathan Taylor has been ruled out after having surgery on his hand several weeks ago. He had been hoping to return to face the Steelers, but did not practice at all this week.

The combination of injury news has the line swinging toward the Steelers. The line opened with the Steelers as three-point underdogs to the Colts. But now, they are a consensus 1.5-point underdog, and some books have the line at just one point.

The Pittsburgh money line has made a similar move, with the Steelers starting out at about +125, and are now down all the way to even money at some books.

Interestingly enough, the addition of two Pittsburgh defensive stars and the subtraction of one Indy offensive star hasn’t changed the total in the matchup. The Vegas line is still at 42.5 points, 12 points higher than the Steelers’ total in Week 14 against the New England Patriots. Only one Steelers game this season has seen more than 42.5 points scored.
