Much of the pressure to perform this coming season for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense will rest on the shoulders of second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett.

But in order for Pickett to perform as well as he’s capable of, the Steelers will also need to get more out of their running game than they did in 2022, when Najee Harris finished last in the league in Rushing Yards over Expectation, and the Steelers were a middle of the road rushing team despite 500 total carries.

General manager Omar Khan and company set out to fix one problem with the running game in a big way this offseason, making multiple upgrades to the Pittsburgh offensive line. But those alone won’t fix problems with Harris’ vision and Matt Canada’s offensive scheme.

Alan Saunders of SN joined Chris Carter on the Locked On Steelers Podcast to discuss Harris’ vision, the problems with the Steelers’ running game in 2022, and how much better they can be in 2023.

They also discussed potential USFL signings for the Steelers, including former first-round pick and Pittsburgh Maulers linebacker Reuben Foster.
