The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of several teams that have shown interest in Buffalo linebacker Joe Andreessen, according to Justin Melo of the Draft Network. Andreessen met with the Steelers along with the 49ers, Jaguars, and Eagles, while the Buffalo Bills continue to show interest in the local product.

Andreessen shined this season in the MAC, racking up 90 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and two pass deflections. Given Pittsburgh’s love for MAC players, Andreessen drawing interest from them is no surprise, and the Steelers seem like a team that is looking to add to the inside linebacker position through the NFL Draft.

Andreessen transferred from Bryant University for this past season at Buffalo and shined as the main piece of their inside linebacker corps. Pittsburgh met with him at the College Gridiron Showcase, where he reportedly had an excellent week in front of NFL scouts. It would be little surprise to see someone like Andreessen sign on board as an undrafted free agent to add to the unit.

The Steelers have been hot on the trail looking for linebackers. Over the last two weeks, inside linebackers coach Aaron Curry has gone to North Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio State to study four different linebacker prospects. So, it is no surprise that the team would also look at someone like White. Cedric Gray, Trevin Wallace, Tommy Eichenberg, and Steele Chambers, whom Curry saw at those stops, are all projected to be selected between the third and sixth rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.

General manager Omar Khan made one of the biggest free agent singings in team history at linebacker earlier this offseason, snagging All-Pro Patrick Queen from the rival Baltimore Ravens on a three-year, $41 million contract.

Queen will join returning veterans Elandon Roberts, Cole Holcomb and Mark Robinson at the position, but the Steelers do not appear to be done adding to their linebacker room, with Curry’s attendance at multiple pro days confirmed interest in multiple players. And White can be another linebacker to throw into the bucket of players that the team is watching closely at the position.
