Multiple new jersey numbers were revealed for new Pittsburgh Steelers signings on Wednesday. While Justin Fields will wear No. 2, there are others that were revealed as well. Safety DeShon Elliott is the most notable name, and he will wear No. 25.

That number has some history to it at the safety positon in Pittsburgh. Of course, it was most recently worn by Eric Rowe in the playoff push last season. But going further back, Ryan Clark wore the number for nearly a decade as the heat-seeking missile next to Troy Polamalu on the fearsome late 2000s defenses. Others such as Brice McCain, Artie Burns, and Desmond King have worn the number.

New punter Cam Johnston will wear No. 5. That was last worn by safety Henry Black. It has some history to it, but mostly with the quarterback position. Josh Dobbs wore it for multiple seasons with the team. Others like Terry Hanratty and Bruce Gradkowski donned the number. In punter history, Craig Colquitt wore it during his tenure with the team.

Meanwhile, Kyle Allen, the likely third string quarterback, will wear No. 4. The last player to wear that was Trace McSorley. Punter Jordan Berry and quarterback Byron Leftwich wore the number, too, but the most notable player to wear No. 4 is punter Josh Miller, who was with the team from 1996 to 2003.

Lastly, new Steelers wide receiver Van Jefferson will wear No. 11. That was worn last year by Allen Robinson II. It is synonymous with mostly wide receivers in the team’s history, from Markus Wheaton to Donte Moncrief to, of course, Chase Clapyool.
