Two of the Pittsburgh Steelers rivals for an AFC playoff spot were dealt significant injury blows on Thursday.

While the Cincinnati Bengals do not know the severity of Joe Burrow’s calf injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey will have surgery on his knee. The injury is reportedly to his meniscus and could keep Ramsey out months.

“That end of the season push gon be legendary!” Ramsey wrote on Twitter.

The Steelers don’t play the Dolphins this season, but much like Pittsburgh, they’re a team looking up at one of the top dogs in the AFC in their division (in Miami’s case, the Buffalo Bills) and looking to most likely be competing for a Wild Card spot.

Xavien Howard is the Dolphins’ other starting cornerback. Noah Igbinoghene, free agent Deion Crossen and rookie second-round draft pick Cam Smith will compete to replace Ramsey while he is out.

🏈 Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay clarified that when he was attempting to shoot down the running backs’ pay narrative earlier this week, he wasn’t talking about HIS running back, in an attempt to save face with star Jonathan Taylor, who is entering the final season of his rookie deal. Irsay said the Colts and Thomas have not begun contract talks.

🏈 Former Steelers wide receiver Eli Rogers apparently still has some feelings about getting cut for Ryan Switzer in 2019.

📅 On this date in 1980, the NFL released its 1970s all-decade team, including nine members of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Terry Bradshaw, defensive tackle Joe Greene, linebacker Jack Ham and wide receiver Lynn Swann were named to the first team. Running back Franco Harris, defensive end L.C. Greenwood, linebacker Jack Lambert and center Mike Webster were on the second team.

🎥 Steel City Star unearthed some video of Greene dominating the Minnesota Vikings in 1972.
