Pittsburgh Steelers second-round draft pick Joey Porter Jr. was named to CBS Sports’ NFL preseason All-Rookie Team. Porter was represented with New England Patriots’ first-round cornerback Christian Gonzalez.

🏈 Mike Tomlin is ready for his 17th season as the Steelers head coach. “Back at Saint Vincent College and loving it. Football 24/7,” Tomlin wrote on Instagram.

🏈 Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay blasted running backs who believe they’re being devalued and not compensated fairly. Najee Harris said on Wednesday that running backs have no security.

“NFL Running Back situation- We have negotiated a CBA, that took years of effort and hard work and compromise in good faith by both sides..to say now that a specific Player category wants another negotiation after the fact,is inappropriate. Some Agents are selling ‘bad faith’..,” Irsay tweeted.

🏈 Former Steelers inside linebacker Vince Williams reflected on his training camp experiences.

“Wow, I really miss the annual camp experience where I would ‘fight’ for a roster spot, only to prove myself as a valuable contributor. Those were some great times,” Williams tweeted.

🏈 Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports ranked all eight NFL divisions by 2023 quarterbacks, and the AFC North came in at No. 1. Kenny Pickett was ranked as the fourth-best quarterback in the division, behind Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.

“While the AFC West has the edge up top, with Mahomes and Herbert arguably both offering top-five stuff at the position, the North may have a bit more collective upside,” Benjamin wrote. “Burrow is, of course, a top three QB in his own right, offsetting a lack of mobility with some of the game’s best pocket fundamentals; he does all the little things well, hitting the right spots at the right times to register as Mahomes’ chief conference rival. Jackson has big questions to answer in terms of durability and late-year passing efficiency, but his unteachable speed and easy ability to air it out always make him a game-changing presence. Watson struggled mightily after returning with serious off-field baggage in 2022, but if he rebounds even close to peak Texans form, we’re talking about an above-average pocket operator. Pickett, meanwhile, was more scrappy than spectacular as a rookie, but on an improved Steelers team with always-tough defensive support, he’s a candidate to push for the playoffs.”

🏈 Pittsburgh-base artist Cody Sabol painted Terry Bradshaw in eight minutes during an event at the Gaylord Convention Center in Dallas.

🎂 Happy 25th birthday to Steelers cornerback Luq Barcoo.

Born on July 27, 1988 in San Diego, California, Barcoo is entering his first season with the Steelers after spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and with the XFL this spring.

🎥 The Steelers official Twitter account posted a pump up video for the first training camp practice on Thursday at Saint Vincent College.
