The Steelers hope they get good news on Kenny Pickett and his left knee injury. Pickett suffered the injury against the Houston Texans on Sunday and did not return after he was sacked on a fourth down. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk said that the Steelers are ‘hopeful’ the injury is a minor MCL Sprain that will cause Pickett only to miss minimal time.

Pittsburgh will get an MRI done on his injured knee on Monday to determine just how much damage there is to his knee.

Pickett was helped off by trainers and limped heavily off the field. Texans defensive end Jonathan Greenard sacked Pickett with all his weight coming down on Pickett’s left leg. Pickett clutched his left knee following the sack. It was a tumultuous game with Pickett at the helm. He finished the game with just 114 passing yards on 15 completions with 23 attempts. Pittsburgh has only scored six points to this point in the fourth quarter.

Kenny Pickett being hurt only expounds on the team’s injuries this year. With the team trying to find something to lean on offensively, Pickett’s injury makes that task much harder. He’s not the only injury, with Diontae Johnson, James Daniels, Pat Freiermuth, and Dan Moore Jr. all down with injuries. Those injuries deplete a unit that has yet to find its footing, averaging just 12.5 points per game in their first four games offensively.

If Pickett can not play against the Ravens, Mitch Trubisky will step into the starting role. Pittsburgh has a bye week after that, and the Steelers could opt to hold Pickett out for a week in hopes that he is ready to return against the Los Angeles Rams out of the bye week. Regardless, Pickett’s injury only further questions how the offense bounces back from a putrid start to the season.
