Steelers Safety Suffers Injury vs. Ravens

Steelers Keanu Neal

PITTSBURGH — Steelers safety Keanu Neal suffered an undisclosed injury against the Baltimore Ravens. Neal came in with Minkah Fitzpatrick on a tackle against Ravens running back Gus Edwards, but Neal took the worst of the physical hit, getting sandwiched. He immediately walked off the field and went into the blue medical tent following the injury.

With Neal out of the game, Fitzpatrick and Damontae Kazee become the de facto starters. That could mean more playing time for Miles Killebrew and Elijah Riley. Killebrew saw some legitimate playing time after Neal went out on the Ravens’ second drive in the Steelers’ big nickel package as their box safety.

Neal was questionable to return to the game following the injury. Pittsburgh is down several regulars already, and their defense is battered. The secondary is where the team has remained healthy, but the group has struggled to run defense and contain top receivers on other teams.

However, as an update, after suffering the injury, Neal is still on the sideline and is slated to return to the game. Pittsburgh will still have all three of their safeties, though the team allowed an easy touchdown drive for the Ravens on their second drive of the football game.
