First and 10: Steelers Schedule Sets Up Early Tests
We’re going to find out pretty quickly how good the 2022 Pittsburgh Steelers can be, as the team’s schedule, announced on Thursday night, provides an early-season gauntlet for the Black and Gold.
The Steelers open at AFC champions Cincinnati, then play always-tough New England at home. Then there’s a short week before the Cleveland Browns come to town for Thursday Night Football. The New York Jets represent something of a reprieve, but the month of October continues with a trip to the Buffalo Bills, and then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to Heinz Field.
Before your kid brother has decided what he wants to be for Halloween, the Steelers will have faced Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, possibly Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen and Tom Brady. Yikes.
The finish is more reasonable, though, with Atlanta, Baltimore, Carolina, Las Vegas, Baltimore again and Cleveland meaning the Steelers finish with six straight games against teams that missed the playoffs in 2021.
