Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out for the rest of the game against the Texans, the team announced on Sunday. Freiermuth suffered the injury on a broken play when Kenny Pickett scrambled out of the pocket to find Najee Harris on the move. With Freiermuth out for the rest of the game, the Steelers will see more of Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward.

Freiermuth has struggled to get going so far this season. Washington has yet to register a catch on the year until replacing Freiermuth, making one catch for 10 yards. The loss is another blow to the Steelers’ group of eligibles, with Diontae Johnson on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. James Daniels and Dan Moore Jr. are out with groin and knee injuries, respectively.

Freiermuth has stood out in a good way in his first two years with the Steelers, becoming one of the more productive tight ends in the first two years of his career. However, the group could not get going, and Freiermuth’s numbers were depleted. He did catch his first touchdown against the Raiders last week. Now, the offense will have to figure out something with Freiermuth out for the rest of the game.
