It was announced on Wednesday morning that Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith agreed to a 4-year, $68 million contract extension, locking the star edge rusher up with the team through the 2027 season. Over the structure of the deal, Highsmith will earn $27.7 million in guaranteed money and $38 million over the first two years of the deal. Highsmith is now the 1oth-highest paid edge rusher in the league, averaging $17 million per year.

A bunch of Highsmith’s current and former teammates have congratulated him via social media on his robust new deal, including Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward and his outside linebacker running mate T.J. Watt.

“Congrats to my guy,” Heyward wrote on Twitter. “It’s the best week for you! Next contract and Picklesburgh this weekend. Couldn’t ask for more lol.”

“Congrats brother!!” Watt said. “You earned it! Can’t wait for this season.”

Here’s more reaction from the rest of Highsmith’s Steelers teammates:
