Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster Says He’s Playing Sunday vs. Chiefs

Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster will play in Sunday’s Wild Card playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs, he announced via social media on Sunday.

Smith-Schuster practiced on Thursday and Friday leading up to the game, his first two practice sessions in three months after requiring shoulder surgery that was expected to be season ending. Instead, the wide receiver appears ready to suit up Sunday.

“God answered my prayers and I’ve recovered from my season-ending shoulder injury earlier than expected,” Smith-Schuster wrote on Twitter. “I can’t believe I get another chance to take the field with this team and play in a playoff game to keep our season alive. Steelers Nation, here we go.”

It’s not clear what level of participation Smith-Schuster will be able to have with just two practice sessions under his belt. Ray-Ray McCloud has started at slot receiver with Smith-Schuster out.

The Steelers will need to make a roster move to return Smith-Schuster from the injured reserve list by 4 p.m. on Saturday in order for him to play.
